Avalon - The High Dunes and The Lagoons
Once the high dunes were so big they stopped the rail service and people had to walk around them to get to Stone Harbor. Now they’re the last remnants of the island’s amazing dune system which is dotted with spectacular homes - certainly one of the most private locations on the island. The island populous begins to thin out at this point making the beaches here more private and quiet as well.
If the bay, boating and sunsets are your forte’ you’ll appreciate all the Lagoons have to offer. Many incredible homes line the tidal waters, most with docks, piers and access to the inter-coastal waterway.

Avalon - The South End
The South End is the thinnest, quietest part of the island. The beaches are both the widest and the least populated. If you want to be away from the noise in town this is the place to be. Even a bayfront home is only a block and a half the beach. As you get closer to the Stone Harbor border things pick up as the island’s hotels and motels are mostly located at the border itself which is 80th Street.
